How to Remove Food Colouring Stains From Clothes?

If you love baking then you have definitely used food colouring in order to make your cakes and pastries look beautiful. But this probably means that you have stained your clothes with it – and removing the stains from food colouring is not an easy job especially when you have no idea what to do. Today, I will share all my secrets with you and will teach you how to remove those stains.

How to Remove Food Colouring Stains From Clothes?

The first thing you need to do is run the stained area under cold water. Just hold the stain on the wrong side up over the running cold water. Do not rub or scrub with your fingers or any brush or sponges because you will drive the stain deeper making it harder to remove. Just hold it under the water for a minute or so.

Then you need to use your laundry detergent and treat the stained area with it. I usually use Persil but any laundry detergent will work. If you happen to have a stain remover then I recommend you use that too. Work it into the stain with your fingers and let it sit for 15 minutes then rinse with cold water again.

If the stain still remains or has faded a bit but is not completely removed, I recommend you use oxygen bleach – it’s the perfect product to remove stains with. I have tested it on just about any material and stain – and the results are always great. You need to dilute the bleach in water then soak the clothing item in there and let it sit for a few hours before you take it out and wash it as usual.

Repeat this step as many times as necessary until the stain is completely removed. The last thing you want to do is wash the clothing item in your washing machine while the stain is still present. The high temperature of the water will set the stain making it impossible to remove later. Also, avoid using your dryer – again, the high heat will drive the stain deeper.

How to Properly Clean a Fish Tank With Natural Ingredients?

Having a fish tank full of beautiful fish is an incredible decoration for any home plus it’s a good option when you want a pet that doesn’t need a lot of your time.

But, of course, one of the most important things for the health of your fish is… cleaning the fish tank. And I know this task can look time-consuming and challenging but today I will show you just how easy it can actually be!

How to Properly Clean a Fish Tank With Natural Ingredients?

Of course, the first thing you need to do is unplug everything and relocate all of your fish – they can’t be in the tank while you deep clean it. Then remove the hood and bring it to your bathtub so we can clean it properly.

Next you need to get rid of the water in the aquarium – I like doing this with a siphon hose and a large bucket. It’s easier and won’t cause a huge mess when compared to other methods.

Continue by getting a cloth or an old rag, dampen it in water and add a few drops of liquid dish soap. Use this to wipe and scrub the glass.

The next step in cleaning your fish tank is removing any decoration and plants that you have placed inside. Make sure you clean the decoration and all the plants – I do this in my kitchen sink by rinsing them, washing with soap then rinsing them again.

Of course, another thing you need to clean is the filter. Remove it from the back of the tank, take it to your sink, and rinse it with water.

And now that your fish tank is spotless, you can refill it with room temperature water, place all the decorations and plants in there, and clean the exterior with a glass cleaner.

How To Easily Clean Your Iron?

My iron is extremely important to me because I cannot stand walking around with wrinkled clothes. I think you look way more polished and put together when you iron your clothes – especially white shirts. This, however, means that I use my iron almost every few days when I do the laundry. This, of course, means that my iron needs to be cleaned pretty often. And because I know a few tips and tricks that have saved me time, effort, and money, I decided that I want to share my knowledge with you!

How To Easily Clean Your Iron?

If you have a Teflon iron then this is what you need to do:

  • Pour equal parts of white vinegar and salt in a pan then place it over your stove to heat it up so the salt can mix with the vinegar. Don’t let the mixture boil – just heat it up.
  • Dip a cloth in the mixture then start scrubbing the soleplate of your iron.
  • Once you are happy with the results, dampen another cloth in distilled water then wipe the soleplate once again so you can remove any of the impurities and the vinegar mixture.

And because most people pour tap water in the reservoir of the iron, the steam vents get clogged very fast which is why the cleaning process won’t stop at taking care of the soleplate.

To clean the vents, dip a Q-tip in distilled water then clean each vent.

And last but not least, it’s time to cover the reservoir! Cleaning it is easy – fill it with half a cup of white vinegar then turn the highest steam setting on. Use the steam until the reservoir is empty. Then fill with distilled water and repeat the process. That way you will get rid of any residue from the vinegar plus that horrible smell!

How To Remove Black Mold From Your Bathroom?

If you have black mold anywhere in your bathroom then you definitely have a problem. In most cases, people deal with mold by applying bleach to it which honestly does nothing but mask the issue. Yes, bleach does not get rid of the mold completely because, in a few months, it comes back.

It’s also super annoying because it can grow anywhere – from the ceiling and the walls to the shower drain, the curtains, or even on the grout – and it spreads pretty quickly. This is why you need to figure out exactly how to get rid of it once and for all so it does not come back in a few months.

How To Prevent Mold?

Before we get to the removal part, I want to focus on prevention because it’s just as important as removing the mold.

As you probably know, mold grows in damp and humid places which is why bathrooms are so ideal. In order to prevent this from happening, control the humidity in the room at all times by using the ventilation fan, opening the window after taking a shower, or opening the door.

How To Remove Black Mold?

Give the following removal methods a try:

  • Spray distilled white vinegar on the affected areas, let them sit for 30 minutes before you scrub with a brush. Then spray once again, let it sit for another 30 minutes before you rinse.

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of borax, 1/4 cup of vinegar, two cups of hot water then apply the mixture to the affected areas. Continue with scrubbing with a scouring sponge. Repeat as many times as necessary then just let the mixture dry.

  • Mix equal parts of water and bleach then spray it directly onto the affected area and let it dry completely. Do not scrub.

Then mix vinegar, baking soda, and borax – spray it on the affected area and let it dry!

How To Clean Your Crystal Chandelier Without Removing It!

I have crystal chandeliers in a few rooms in my home – and I am in love with them. They just make the entire room feel and look so stylish and luxurious.

But their beauty lies in how sparkling and clean they are which means that I have to clean them as often as possible.

To be quite honest with you, I rarely cleaned my chandelier. I started doing it more often the past couple of months – and I see amazing results.

In the beginning, I was searching for cleaning methods I could use, however, most tips and tricks I could find included taking down the chandelier and then cleaning it, however, I didn’t want to do that. It seemed like too much work and also, the chandeliers are pretty heavy.

How I Clean My Crystal Chandelier Without Removing It

The first thing I do is lay a thick blanket on the floor right under the chandelier. That way, if any pieces fall, they won’t break.

I turn off the light and mix one part of isopropyl alcohol with four parts distilled water. Next, I grab a small ladder so I can reach the chandelier and spray the cleaner on a microfiber cloth. I gently wipe everything. Lastly, in order to avoid any water stains from appearing, I wipe again with a dry cloth.

8 Ways To Use Vinegar When Cleaning Your Home

If you are familiar with cleaning using natural ingredients then you know that vinegar is the most used product. You can use it alone or mix it with a couple of other ingredients to create a special powerful cleaner.

I also love vinegar. It’s really powerful at removing stains, cleaning certain surfaces, and even disinfecting. It’s also the perfect all-purpose cleaner.

Here Are 8 Ways You Can Use Vinegar For Cleaning

– Clean Your Showerhead

I will start off with one of the most common cleaning tricks – soaking your showerhead in vinegar overnight so that all the build-up dirt, impurities, germs, and soap scum can be removed easily.

– Make A Bathroom Cleaner

The first recipe I will share with you today contains vinegar, corn starch, and liquid soap. This is a bathroom cleaner and more specifically a way to remove soap scum.

– Make A Glass Cleaner

One of my favourite recipes has to be the one for glass cleaner. Of course, it can be used on windows, glass shower doors, and even stainless steel appliances or sinks.

In a spray bottle you should mix water, liquid soap, and white vinegar.

– Make A Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Did you know that a cup of baking soda, a cup of white vinegar, and a toilet brush is all you need to clean your toilet?

Yes, you don’t need any fancy cleaners – this one will work just as effective as the one you will buy from the store.

– Clean Your Microwave

Another great way to use vinegar is to clean your microwave.

Fill a microwave-safe bowl with water and add two tablespoons of vinegar in there. Place the bowl in your microwave and turn it on for 3-4 minutes.

Once the time is up leave the bowl in there for another 5 minutes before you open the door and remove it. The steam will loosen all the build-up, grease, and food residue making it so easy to wipe later.

– Clean Your Dishwasher

If you want to clean your dishwasher than follow these easy steps – grab a cup and fill it with water. Then place the cup on the top rack of your dishwasher (don’t put anything else in there) and run a full cycle.

– Make An All-Purpose Cleaner

Vinegar is usually used as an all-purpose cleaner so I had to feature it here.

In a spray bottle make sure you mix 2 cups of warm water, a tablespoon of baking soda, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, and 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. This is the perfect all-purpose cleaner, however, make sure you do not use it on granite, marble, or any other stone because the acidity in the vinegar and lemon juice will damage the surface!

– Deodorize Your Carpet

I must admit that I learned about this use of vinegar from a cleaning company in Liverpool –

If your carpet smells bad then you can easily deodorize it with vinegar and baking soda. Just make sure you mix a tablespoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of baking soda in a spray bottle then shake it very well. Then you can add a few drops of your favourite essential oil in order for cancel the vinegar smell. Then spray very little on the smelly area and allow it to dry completely.

Here Is The Easiest Way To Remove Mustard Stains

Mustard – one of my favourite condiments! But it’s also one of my least favourite stains to deal with. Unfortunately, I have spilt mustard on my clothes and my couch in the past.

Because of the yellow dye of the turmeric which is used in mustard, it can be a little tricky to remove especially when you drop some on your upholstery or your carpet.

How To Remove Mustard Stains From Clothes?

Now, if the stain is fresh you need to immediately remove the excess with a spoon. Then go to your sink and rinse the affected area with cold water.

Then it’s time to grab your laundry detergent and start treating the stain with it. You can use a soft brush and gently work the detergent into the affected area.

Then you can wash the clothing item as usual. Once you take it out of the washing machine make sure you inspect whether the stain is removed or not.

If the mustard stain remains then you need to soak the affected area in an oxygen-based bleach (dilute it in cold water first) overnight! Then remove the clothing piece and wash it as usual in the washing machine.

The mustard stain should be completely gone by now!

Want to disinfect your humidifier? Here is how to easily do it!

You either love using a humidifier or you couldn’t care less. It seems like there is no in-between! Well, if you indeed love using it that means you need to know how to disinfect it in order for it to work properly, right?

Disinfecting your humidifier is extremely important because otherwise, it will disperse germs in the air which is the last thing we all want!

You need to do so at least once a week. Yes, I know that it sounds like way too much work but trust me – you won’t waste a ton of time or energy. It’s quite easy actually!

Let’s get started!

All you need are white vinegar, distilled warm water, and a microfiber cloth.

Is using distilled water necessary? Yes! Tap water contains mineral deposits which will cause build-up and bacteria growth.

Now, start with unplugging the humidifier. Then remove the water tank, fill it with the distilled water and white vinegar, and let the mixture sit for an hour. Then rinse with warm water and dry with the cloth.

Then conitnue with cleaning the water basin with the same mixture of distilled water and vinegar.

You are almost ready – all you have left is the exterior of the humidifier. Use the water and vinegar mixture and wipe the exterior of the humidifier with it. Don’t forget the air vents!

Start using vinegar to clean your bathroom and your life will change

Of course, vinegar is on top of our natural ingredients for cleaning. This isn’t something new since we all know the power of vinegar however I must ask – do you really use it?

If not, then I advise you to start applying this cleaning method in your bathroom since due to the high acidity level of vinegar it will loosen mineral deposit and will remove soap scum.

– Clean the mirror

Did you know that one of the easiest ways to clean your mirror if by using vinegar? It will leave it streak-free which is what we all want.

– Clean the showerhead

An extremely easy way to clean your shower head is with vinegar.

I suggest you remove the showerhead and put it in a bag (a ziplock bag). Fill it with vinegar, close the bag, and let the shower head soak in there.

I recommend you leave the showerhead overnight if possible. Then rinse it very well with soapy water.

– Clean the faucets

Soak a cloth in vinegar and wipe the faucets in your bathroom to remove hard water stains.

– Clean the bathtub

Are you dealing with soap scum and different stains in your bathroom? Well, using vinegar will not only take care of these problems but it will disinfect the bathtub as well.

If you hate the smell of vinegar then you can mix it with liquid soap or essential oils which will cancel the odour and will make the cleaning process more pleasant!
